Neck muscles

The neck muscles are comparatively small group of muscles which do not fall in the group of the noticeable and desired muscle groups. No one misses to train chest or arms, but almost everyone don’t train neck.

But there are certain very important reasons to train your neck muscles. The developing of strong and injury-free neck is necessarily for every athlete who trains a contact sport like wrestling, martial arts, American football, rugby and others. Also everybody who wants to develop a strong and symmetrically body must train their neck muscles because there is noting more curious than a big trapezius muscles with thin ’’struthious’’ neck.

The musculature of the neck is build from many different by size and function muscles. Here we will emphasize on the biggest and more important for strengthening and building of the neck.

Splenius

The Sternocleidomastoideus is a paired muscle in superficial layers of the anterior portion of the neck. It acts to flex and rotate the head.

Splenius

The Splenius is either of two large, flat muscles at the back of the neck, serving to rotate and extend the head and rotate and flex the neck.
